COMMON QUERIES ANSWERED
FAQ
What is calibration, and why does my instrument need it?
Calibration compares your instrument's reading against a known, traceable reference standard, and records how much it deviates. It doesn't "fix" the instrument — it tells you how accurate it currently is. Regular calibration protects product quality, keeps you compliant with customer/ISO/regulatory requirements, and catches drift before it causes a bad batch, a failed audit, or a safety issue.
What does "NABL Accredited" mean, and why does it matter?
NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories), under the Quality Council of India, has independently assessed our lab against ISO/IEC 17025:2017 — the international standard for competence of testing and calibration laboratories. Our procedures, reference standards, uncertainty calculations, and staff competence are all verified by NABL, and our certificates are recognised under the ILAC MRA — accepted internationally, not just in India. Our accreditation number: CC-2879
What is ISO/IEC 17025:2017?
It is the global standard specifying the general requirements for the competence, impartiality, and consistent operation of testing and calibration laboratories. It is not a certificate you buy — it is a standard a lab is independently assessed against, by a body like NABL, before accreditation is granted.
How often should I get my instruments calibrated?
Most instruments are calibrated annually, but the right interval depends on usage frequency, manufacturer recommendation, criticality of measurement, and your own QMS requirements (e.g. ISO 9001 or a customer contract). High-use or critical instruments may need calibration every 3–6 months; low-use reference instruments may safely go longer. We can help set a sensible interval based on your instrument's history with us.
Do you offer on-site calibration?
Both. Instruments that can be safely transported are calibrated in our Chennai lab under controlled environmental conditions. For fixed, large, or installation-sensitive instruments, we offer on-site calibration at your facility using NABL-traceable reference standards.
What is the typical turnaround time?
Standard turnaround is generally 3–7 working days from receipt of the instrument, depending on the parameter and current workload. Urgent/priority calibration can often be arranged — let us know your deadline when you send the instrument or request a quotation.
What information should I share when requesting a quotation?
Instrument name, make/model, range, required calibration/test points, and whether you need it on-site or in-house. Sharing a previous calibration certificate, if available, helps us quote accurately and faster.
How do I verify a Sansel NABL certificate is genuine?
You can verify any NABL-accredited lab and its scope through the "Laboratory Search" facility on the official NABL website (nabl-india.org), or by emailing NABL directly at info@nabl.qcin.org with our accreditation number, CC-2879.
